We are warned in the New Testament, "Do not be deceived..." (Galatians 16:7, I Corinthians 6:9, 15:33 and James 1:16). In this passage we have the example of Ahab, King of Israel, who was deceived. This resulted in Israel's army being defeated and his own death. What was it about Ahab that made him so easily deceived? Let's frame our study by considering what we could do that would help us obey the command, "Don't be deceived."

Every once in a while we come across something we really want. It can be an object or an event that grabs our attention and it seems as if it's all we can think about. In this chapter, Ahab finds himself in such a situation. What transpires is not good but there is a lesson in what the Scriptures teaches. All of us will experience this strong desire from time to time. We can't change the situation but we can change how we respond to it. A careful study can render some very practical help.
