There has been a misunderstanding between Paul and the Corinthian church. In the previous verses, Paul gently tried to assure the church of his intentions and his motives. In today's section, Paul now deals with the real issue of why he didn't do what he had promised: there had been blatant sin in Corinth. There are two major thoughts that need to be explored: the context of Paul's words and the method of his dealing with the problem. The application: we need to learn what the standard is for responding to sin in the church.

Psalm 19 divides naturally into three sections: the heavens declare the glory of God, the power of Scripture to convert the soul and the necessity of holiness in God's people. In our study of Psalm 19, we will see how these truths provides us with a strategy to stand against man's attempt to remove God from His creation.
